SURGICAL ORTHODONTICS

X  Correction of severe skeletal deformity in an adult is achieved by surgical means. 10 – 20% of adults fall into this category.

X  OGS basically involves planned fracturing of the facial skeletal parts and repositioning them as desired.

X  OGS can be performed in both jaws and is all 3 planes of space.

Today i am  going to  write  about orthodotic treatment which is a branch of dentistry which deals with correction of malaligned teeth.Orthodontics and dentofacial orthopaedics as the name indicates deals with correction of irreuglarly placed teeth.the term dentofacial orthopaedics  empasis that it deals with correction of jaws also.
               orthodontics deals with correction of irrugularly arranged teeh,functional orthodontics deals with the correction of bone deformity by allowing the bone to grow,surgical orthodontics deals with the correction of malformed bone surgically. identifying the biologic age of the patient is important in orthodontic treatment.
